Job Claim!
Photographer – there are many different types of photographers, there are fashion photographers, scenery photographers, magazine photographers, nudie photographers, etc. It depends on the type of photographer as to how much money you get. If you work for little magazines or yourself, then you might not get a lot of pay at all, but if you well known in that fashion industry or possibly the porn industry, then you could roll in the big bucks with this job, but you have to be good and you have to get your shit out there anyway you can. You could easily fail in this career, but you could also just as easily prosper, as long as you’ve got the stuff.
Actor | Actress – this is an extremely hard field to make it big in, but a lot of people live in L.A. because they want to be an actor or actress, they think that they will make it big in this city. Which you can, but usually you don’t make a lot of money at first, you need to get yourself out there and be in any movie you can be in. You hear about an audition, go to it. Usually this career doesn’t make a lot of money, not unless you’ve already made it, but the sad thing is, not many people do. However, if you’ve got the chops and the looks, then this is the job for you, but if you don’t – and a lot of people don’t – then sorry to say, but you should probably look for a new career.
Artist - Being an artist is tough, you’re usually self-employed and usually your have to get by with selling your stuff to anyone you think would be interested. They usually live in studios and if they’re successful enough then they can usually sell they’re stuff to art galleries or magazines. Maybe they even have they’re own comic book, really they could be successful easily in Los Angeles, but usually that’s not the case at all. Usually they’re just scraping by.
Musician - Musicians are also usually scraping by. You have to be good to get anywhere in this town and usually you have to find an agent and usually the only way to find an agent is to book small gigs at places where the right people will see you, but in order to get those gigs you have to be good, either that or you could practice at small clubs that pay to have anyone play, and usually that’s your only paycheck, so really being a musician is hard, but some people power through and actually get somewhere, after all this is the place to make it big.
Writer - There are tons of different writers out there, people who write novels, or for magazines or children’s books, or movie/play scripts and what not. Some even write for the local newspaper or magazines, then again local magazines usually mean a lot of money, since Los Angeles is home to thousands of people. A writers pay differs. You can get paid very well in this industry, but you have to be good, and you have to know who to sell your work to. Be careful, you could easily get scammed, you should show your work to people you trust.
Waitress | Waiter - This is the job to have while you wait to hit it big. Hey! You might even hit it big by working as a waiter/waitress. Also if you work at an actual sit down restaurant then you’ll get good tips, or maybe you work at a bar, even better tips! Really it’s a good job to get the rent paid and to waste some time while you try to make it to the big screen or whatever it is you want to really do with your life.
Bartender - Being a bartender is also a good way to make great tips and get paid well. This is sometimes peoples lifetime dream to be a bartender and that’s cool, but it’s also a good job to have while your waiting to move on to bigger things. Just like waiting a table, only you probably get better tips since people are usually super drunk and when they’re drunk they can’t tell the difference between a $1 bill and an $100 bill.
Stripper - Being a stripper certainly isn’t someone’s dream when growing up – well sometimes it is, but whatever – but it is a way to get good money fast. Sometimes you get 1,000 bucks in just one night, sometimes more. It really just depends on how busy the place is and usually those places are busy, because what guy doesn’t love to see a woman naked and not have any emotional tie to them.
Cashier - You can be a cashier for pretty much anything. Fast food restaurants, clothing stores, etc. Either way it’s a pretty good job, you get minimum wage, but it’s better then nothing and it’s not that bad of a job. You’ve got flexible hours, pretty good pay, etc.
Hospital Intern - If you’re an intern, then you’ve got rough hours and little pay, but if your one of those people who love to save lives and work your ass off, then this is the job for you. You won’t have much of a social life outside of the hospital, the hospital will basically be your life, and I highly doubt that it’ll be much like Grey’s Anatomy.
Drug Dealer - This is probably one the highest paying jobs around. Well, maybe not, but you do make a lot of money doing this job. You sell drugs to the people who ‘need’ it. You can hike up the prices however far you want them to go and people will probably still buy them, as long as the drugs are good for the money. If not then you might go out of business faster then you know. But usually these drug dealers are very well off. But it is a very dangerous job. You could get arrested or killed easily.
Model - Modeling is a good way to get by. You can model for well-known photographer – but usually you need an agency for that – or you could model for up and coming photographers for little or no pay, but modeling for up and comers will get you a portfolio, so really it’s good to do. You can also do fashion shows and stuff like that, you can be very successful in this job, but you could also fail pretty easily too, so when going into this job be careful, you never know when you’ll run into a scam.
Teacher - Even though we might all hate school when you look at it logically, being a teacher is probably one of the best jobs out there. It's basically just babysitting in some cases and let's face it - it's the only job you'll be able to still take the summer off. Plus you get vacations in both the spring and fall. You meet a variety of new people and sometimes even end up making a few new friends. Just make sure you have good people skills and have a pretty good memory because you'll have to recalifornian a countless amount of kids names! The salary isn't the best out there but it works for most.
Accountant - Are you good with handling money? Or budgetting accounts. It may sound slightly complicated and for many it won't flost your boat. But those kids in high school who reached calculus classes - if you didn't end up discovering a new proof, but you still enjoy mathematics this is probably the job for you. Accountant get quite the pay check and live the high life in LA.
Architect - Architecture is another very complex subject. It's certainly a job that takes quite a bit of talent. Not only do you have to put in many hours but both a great mind and good pair of hands are required. It takes skill all around to be able to design a building from scratch and then sometimes even participate in all the labor work. Blue prints can be tricky to draw and sometimes projects fail in the middle of it all and it ends up being frustrating. It requires a degree to be certified architecture but it's all worth it in the end to see your work complete! Can't find a suitable job?
